The First Breath (newborn care at birth)

The moments right after birth matter most. Our neonatal team is present at deliveries that need extra support, ready to help your baby breathe, stay warm, and stabilise. For healthy babies, we encourage immediate skin-to-skin contact and early feeding — because bonding begins from the very first breath.

Tiny Fighters (NICU & intensive care)

Some babies arrive early or need extra help to thrive. Our Level III NICU provides advanced care for premature and critically ill newborns — with ventilator support, continuous monitoring, and a specialist team on hand around the clock to give the tiniest patients the strongest start.

Born Too Soon (premature & low-birth-weight babies)

Premature babies need gentle, specialised care as their organs continue to mature. We support breathing, feeding, temperature, and growth in a calm, protective environment — guiding your little one steadily towards the day they’re ready to go home.

Screening & Early Detection

Newborns can’t tell us when something’s wrong, so we watch carefully. Through newborn screening, jaundice checks, and continuous monitoring, we detect and treat concerns early — from infections to feeding and breathing difficulties — before they become serious.

Family-Centred Neonatal Care

A baby in the NICU is hard on any parent. We keep you close and involved — explaining every step, encouraging kangaroo care and breastfeeding, and supporting you emotionally — because your touch and presence are part of your baby’s healing.

Discharge & Developmental Follow-Up

Going home is a joyful milestone. Before discharge, we ensure your baby is feeding well, gaining weight, and stable, and guide you on care at home. Follow-up visits track growth and development, so your baby continues to thrive long after leaving us.

FAQs

What does a Level III NICU mean?

It’s an advanced unit equipped to care for very premature and critically ill newborns — including breathing support and round-the-clock specialist care.

Why has my baby been admitted to the NICU?

Common reasons include prematurity, low birth weight, breathing difficulty, jaundice, or infection. Admission means your baby is getting the close care they need to get stronger.

Can I stay with and hold my baby in the NICU?

Yes. We encourage your presence, skin-to-skin (kangaroo) care, and breastfeeding wherever possible — your closeness genuinely helps your baby heal.

How long will my baby stay in the NICU?

It varies with each baby’s needs — some need a few days, others a few weeks. We update you daily and prepare you well before discharge.
