PICSI (Physiological Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection)
What is PICSI?
PICSI is a refinement of ICSI that selects the best-quality sperm before injection. The sperm is placed in a special dish coated with hyaluronan — the same substance surrounding a natural egg — and only mature, biologically sound sperm bind to it. These are then chosen for fertilisation, improving embryo quality.
When is it needed?
PICSI is helpful for couples with poor embryo quality, repeated IVF failure, or recurrent miscarriage, as selecting healthier sperm can lower the risk of miscarriage and improve the chance of a healthy pregnancy.

FAQs
How is PICSI different from ICSI?
Both inject a single sperm into the egg, but PICSI adds a natural selection step to pick the most mature sperm — improving quality in selected cases.
Who benefits most from PICSI?
Couples with previous failed cycles or recurrent miscarriage benefit most. We recommend it only when it’s likely to add real value.
