LAH (Laser-Assisted Hatching)

What is LAH?
When is it needed?

What is LAH?

Every embryo is surrounded by a protective outer shell that it must “hatch” from before implanting in the womb. Laser-assisted hatching uses a precise laser to gently thin or open this shell, making it easier for the embryo to implant and improving the chance of pregnancy.

When is it needed?

LAH is especially useful for older women, frozen-thawed embryos, embryos with a thicker shell, or couples who’ve had previous failed IVF cycles — situations where natural hatching may be harder.

FAQs

Is LAH safe for the embryo?

Yes. The laser is precise and controlled, used routinely in IVF labs without harming the embryo.

Does LAH guarantee pregnancy?

No — it improves the chance of implantation in selected cases, but success still depends on embryo quality and other factors. We advise it only when suitable.
