Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)

What is ICSI?
ICSI is an advanced form of IVF where a single healthy sperm is injected directly into the egg, rather than leaving fertilisation to chance. It greatly improves fertilisation rates and is especially valuable when sperm count, motility, or quality is low.
When is it needed?
ICSI is recommended for severe male-factor infertility, previous fertilisation failure with conventional IVF, or when sperm is surgically retrieved (TESA/PESA). It’s also used with frozen or limited eggs to make every egg count.

FAQs
Is ICSI safer or better than normal IVF?
For male-factor cases, yes it improves fertilisation. Where sperm quality is normal, standard IVF works just as well; we advise what suits you.
Does ICSI affect the baby’s health?
Babies born through ICSI are as healthy as those from natural conception. It’s a widely used, well-established technique.
